Job purpose:
To provide professional and effective care to residents of the Canadian Centre for Addictions treatment program through the facilitation of Addiction Program Schedule, Group Counselling, and Individual Counselling Sessions
- Observing all 12 Core Competencies of the Addiction Counsellor
- Conducting comprehensive assessments, developing treatment plans and making referrals to other programs or agencies as required.
- Providing individual, family and group counselling using therapeutic techniques drawn from the theoretical frameworks such as family systems, solution-focused, narrative and psychodynamic group work.
- Preparing Counselling notes and documenting in the EMR
- Assisting clients to live without the dependence to addictive substances and activities. Teaching and assisting clients in developing healthier coping mechanisms, life skills and community survival skills. Engaging clients in acceptable recreational and social activities in the community.
- Developing and facilitating support groups for clients
- Reviewing and evaluating client’s progress and making adjustments to treatment plans as required.
- Maintaining client records and providing information.
Hours: 40
