MHB Financial helps Canadian SMBs access capital with speed, transparency, and care. As we continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced and strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our executive leadership team.
Position Overview
The CFO will lead the company’s financial strategy, capital management, portfolio oversight, and financial operations. This role is responsible for forecasting, liquidity management, financial reporting, credit risk oversight, and developing scalable financial systems and controls.
Working closely with executive leadership, underwriting, operations, and technology teams, the CFO will provide financial insights that support business growth, operational performance, and new product initiatives.
The ideal candidate brings experience in alternative lending, fintech, private credit, or SME financing and thrives in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute financial strategy to support growth and profitability.
- Advise the CEO and executive team on forecasting and scenario planning.
- Support corporate planning, expansion, and new product development.
Capital & Funding
- Manage investor and capital partner relationships.
- Oversee credit facilities, covenant compliance, and treasury operations.
- Lead liquidity planning and capital allocation.
Financial Operations
- Oversee accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
- Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of financial statements and internal reporting.
- Maintain audit readiness.
- Ensure regulatory compliance.
Portfolio & Credit Oversight
- Monitor portfolio performance, repayment trends, and risk-adjusted returns.
- Oversee provisioning, credit modeling, loss forecasting, and risk analytics.
- Refine credit policies, scoring models, and risk frameworks.
Team Leadership
- Build, manage, and mentor a strong finance team.
- Promote accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.
- Support the adoption of scalable tools and processes.
Qualifications
Required
- 8+ years of senior finance experience (fintech, lending, private credit, or financial services).
- Experience with loan portfolios, capital partners, or debt facilities.
- Strong credit risk, underwriting, and analytics background.
- CPA, CFA, MBA, or equivalent professional designation.
- Proven ability to build financial strategy for a high-growth organization.
Preferred
- Prior CFO / VP Finance / Head of Finance role in lending or fintech.
- Experience securing and managing lender / investor relationships.
- Knowledge of Canadian regulatory frameworks.
- Experience with fintech systems or lending platforms.
Pay: $180,000.00 per year
