The Opportunity
The Water Treatment Plant Operator is responsible for operating and performing light maintenance duties on the water treatment plant. They require a general knowledge of the regulatory and company water treatment plant requirements specific to the mine site. The Operator will conduct influent, in-process, effluent and receiving environment monitoring programs including in-house analyses and collecting and preparing samples for shipment to an external laboratory.
This position is for a period of 12 months, on a 12 hour shift, 4 on 4 off schedule rotating between days and nights. The anticipated start date for this position is August 4, 2026 with an end date of August 27, 2027.
What You’ll Do
- Operation of the Water Treatment Plant in accordance with all requirements under the approved permits, regulations, and company policies;
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on Plant components, identify and correct component failures in emergency situations;
- Conduct daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual sampling and monitoring as per applicable regulations, approved permits and company requirements;
- Compile and maintain water treatment plant database and records such as process control data and a water sample results database;
- Coordinate chemical / reagent / waste product storage, handling and disposal;
- Continually seek ways to improve the water treatment plant’s performance and propose them to the Supervisor for approval and implementation;
- Complete confirmatory waste rock laboratory Sulphur analysis as required;
- Other duties as required.
What You’ll Bring
- 1 - 2 years of related experience;
- College or technical training in water treatment, chemistry, or other closely related field;
- Operator in Training Certificate;
- Ontario Water Treatment Plant Level 1 Certification is an asset;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Strong organizational skills and ability to communicate effectively;
- Valid Class G2 or G Driver’s license;
- Intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Office.
