This is a skilled position involving a wide variety of plumbing duties. The incumbent performs duties related to the repair and maintenance of plumbing equipment systems, as well as other building systems, equipment and furnishings, within Health PEI at the Mental Health and Addictions Campus (Hillsborough Hospital) in Charlottetown.
Duties will include but not limited to:
- perform preventative maintenance on heating, piping systems as required;
- managing plumbing requests through computerized maintenance system;
- install piping for heating devices; clear blocked sewer lines;
- install, maintain and repair plumbing equipment, fixtures and potable water lines for potable water lines in various departments as well as equipment water line filters.
- maintain grease traps, plaster traps, sediment traps and dilution pits;
- maintain water filters, maintain plumbing fixtures, garburators, etc.;
- assist in the development of new construction and renovations, refer to blueprints and specifications;
- maintain and repair unitary heating equipment, radiant heat panels, baseboard radiation, HVAC equipment, unit heaters, etc.
- maintain steam lines and traps; maintain and repair control valves on heating system, compressed air lines, distillation units and R.O. systems;
- maintain records of material and time devoted to work assignments; obtain supplies as required;
- maintain tools and shop equipment; perform housekeeping of workspaces;
- supervise one or more staff as required;
- Able to work with minimal supervision.
- adhere to safe work practices, follow Occupational Health and Safety guidelines and applicable safety codes;
- assist with fire and disaster planning.
- collaborate with contractors, and other maintenance trades in the install repair of plumbing, related issues;
- perform other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Applicants must have successfully completed Grade 12.
- Successful completion of a course in plumbing at an approved institute of technology or trade school.
- Have and maintain a valid driver license.
- A trades qualification license and number as issued by the Province of Prince Edward Island and show proof of same with application.
- A good work and attendance record
- Capable of sustained physical activity
- The successful applicant must provide a satisfactory criminal record check prior to beginning employment.
Other Qualifications:
- Extensive experience in a commercial industrial/institutional setting is preferred.
- Additional relevant education and experience will be considered an asset.
- Experience with computerized maintenance management software
