About the Role
We're looking for a skilled CNC Lathe Machinist to set up, program, and operate CNC turning centers producing precision aluminum components. You'll work with aircraft-grade materials to tight tolerances in a quality-driven ISO 9001:2015 environment.
What You'll Do
- Set up and operate CNC lathes and turning centers (2-3 axis)
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and GD&T specifications
- Perform first-piece inspections and in-process quality checks using precision measuring instruments
- Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, feeds, and toolpaths for aluminum machining
- Edit and optimize CNC programs at the machine as needed
- Monitor tool wear and replace inserts/tooling to maintain part quality
- Maintain tight tolerances on precision components
- Perform routine machine maintenance and keep work area clean and organized
- Document production data and quality records per ISO 9001:2015 requirements
- Collaborate with quality and engineering teams on process improvements
What You Bring
- 3+ years of CNC lathe/turning center experience
- Ability to read technical drawings and GD&T
- Proficiency with precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, CMM experience an asset)
- Working knowledge of G-code; ability to edit programs at the control
- Experience machining aluminum is a strong asset
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Trade certification (Red Seal Machinist) or equivalent experience preferred
- Familiarity with Fanuc or similar CNC controls
Compensation
- Starting at $28/hr CAD (commensurate with experience)
