Tzu Chi Great Love Daycare is a licensed nonprofit childcare centre operated by the Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation Canada. Our program is based on the values of compassion, gratitude, respect, and responsibility. We believe children learn best through kindness, positive role models, and meaningful experiences.
We are looking for educators who enjoy working with young children and respect Tzu Chi's values and educational philosophy.
Position Summary
We are looking for a caring and reliable On-call ECE or ECEA to support our preschool program (ages 2.5–5).
You will work alongside the lead teacher in a classroom of up to 8 children, helping create a safe, fun, and nurturing learning environment.
On-Call Availability
This is an on-call position.
Most shifts will be offered at least one day in advance. Occasionally, you may be contacted before 8:00 a.m. on the same day to cover an unexpected staff absence. Flexibility is appreciated.
Responsibilities
- Support the Lead Teacher in daily classroom activities.
- Follow the Tzu Chi Bilingual and Character Education curriculum.
- Teach children kindness, gratitude, respect, and caring for others.
- Ensure children's safety and well-being at all times.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom.
- Communicate professionally with families and coworkers.
- Follow licensing, health, and safety requirements.
- Participate in staff meetings and training.
- Follow Tzu Chi's dress code.
Qualifications
- Eligible to work in Canada.
- Valid BC ECE or ECEA Certificate.
- Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C & AED.
- Up-to-date immunization record.
- Experience working with preschool children is preferred.
- Positive, patient, and dependable.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Willing to learn and support Tzu Chi's educational philosophy.
- Fluent in English; Mandarin or French is an asset.
