We are looking for Lead Hand for our Turning Department. We are a growing job-shop environment specializing in custom, precision-machined components across a wide range of industries.
This is not an entry-level role. We need someone who can hit the ground running, problem-solve independently, and take full ownership of their machine and production personnel under their supervision. Typical run are from 1 part to 25 parts. Setup for high volume runs and instruct and aid machine operators during production runs.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate Fanuc-based CNC lathes - 2 to 8 axis
- Perform tool touch-offs, work offsets, tool selection, and machine setup
- Run custom and production parts
- Maintain tolerances of ±0.0005"
- Troubleshoot issues and solve problems independently
- Work with and help/train opperators on production runs
- Interpret drawings and apply knowledge of GD&T and surface finishes
- Adapt to a fast-paced job-shop environment with constant new and repeat parts
Work with a wide variety of materials:
- Mild steel, alloy steel, tool steel
- Stainless steels
- Aluminum
- Plastics
- Exotic alloys
Qualifications (required)
- Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience operating and setting up CNC lathes with Fanuc controls
- Strong English communication skills
- Solid understanding of CNC lathe setup procedures
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Experience reading and interpreting technical drawings
- Program CNC lathes with Mastercam 2025 (including live tools and milling toolpaths)
- Macro knowledge required
Assets (Not Required)
- Mill-turn machining experience
- Knowledge of CNC milling machines
- Knowledge of collaborative robot (Universal Robots) programing
- Experience with LNS barloaders
- Picture portfolio of past work
