Your opportunity is in the Healthy Young Families department working in the Healthy Beginnings program. Using the nursing process, you deliver public health services to individuals, families, and communities, including postpartum assessment and support; health education and teaching; counseling; screening; breastfeeding support; referral and care coordination; advocacy; consultation; and health promotion activities that support healthy pregnancies, healthy infant development, positive parenting, and family well-being. The PHN collaborates with community agencies and health and social service partners to coordinate care, facilitate access to resources, and provide informed referrals that address the diverse and evolving needs of infants, parents, and families. Through a strength-based, relationship-focused approach, the PHN supports family capacity, resilience, and healthy beginnings for children and caregivers. This position requires the following: Ability to carry up to 25 lbs. of equipment; pack, push, pull, and transport heavy and/or awkward supplies; walk 3-4 blocks, climb 3-4 flights of stairs to deliver services; carry out awkward and repetitive movements for an entire 7.75-hour shift, including sitting, standing, and/or bending for long periods of time. Ability to document in an electronic medical record continuously throughout the shift. Previous experience working with diverse communities, groups and/or organizations (i.e. ethno-cultural, equity-setting, racialized, faith-based, LGBTQ2S+, vulnerable, marginalized, persons with disabilities, and persons across all age groups, etc.) Ability to be self-directed and to exercise independent nursing judgment. Strong analytical, critical thinking, decision-making, and organizational skills.
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of PCA. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:
This position requires the following: Minimum 2 years' experience within the last 5 years working in: Post Partum Care, Labour and Delivery, NICU or Healthy Young Families. Ability to commit to a rigorous orientation process.
Preferred Qualifications:
Baccalaureate degree in Nursing (BN), Bachelor of Science in Nursing BScN) strongly preferred CNA Certification in Community Health Nursing. Experience working with diverse cultures, & vulnerable populations. Knowledge, understanding & demonstrated use of the social determinants of health & health promotion strategies. Maternal newborn, pediatric nursing and/or lactation support experience. Indigenous Cultural and Sensitivity training.
