Unicorn Lounge is a local, queer-owned and queer-focused venue where people come to have a good time. We're looking for a cook who genuinely enjoys being in the kitchen and wants steady evening and weekend shifts.
You don't need formal culinary training. Our kitchen setup is simple and we'll show you the ropes — what matters is that you cook with care, keep a clean station, and like being part of a busy, friendly night.
This is your kitchen. It's a small space, and most nights you'll be running the back solo — cooking every plate, owning the rhythm of service, and handling your own dishes and cleanup at the end. If you love the independence of being the one in charge of your station from open to close, you'll thrive here. If you'd rather hide in a big brigade, this isn't the one.
What you'll do
- Run the kitchen solo most nights — prep, cook, and plate our whole menu
- Keep your station clean, organized, and food-safe
- Work efficiently and keep your cool when the room gets busy
- Handle dishwashing and full kitchen cleanup at the end of service
- Open and close the kitchen, and own its day-to-day flow
What we're looking for
- Food Safe certification (required) — you must hold a valid certificate, or have it before your first shift
- A real enjoyment of cooking; no formal training required
- A self-starter who's comfortable working independently and managing their own station
- Reliable and punctual — this is a mostly set schedule, so we need someone who shows up
- Able to work evenings and weekends
- Comfortable on your feet in a fast-paced kitchen, and doesn't mind getting their hands wet on cleanup
- A positive attitude and pride in a job done right
The details
- 25–30 hours/week, primarily Tuesday–Saturday evenings, with the option to add Sundays
- $19–$20/hour depending on experience, plus a share of tips
