We are seeking an Insurance Defence Associates of Ontario litigation experience to join our growing litigation team. This opportunity is ideal for a developing litigator seeking sophisticated insurance defence files, meaningful responsibility, direct client exposure, and exceptional mentorship while building a long-term career within a collaborative, technology-forward litigation practice.
Independently manage a portfolio of insurance defence and civil litigation files.
Conduct examinations for discovery, attend mediations, argue motions, and assist with arbitrations, trials, and appeals.
Draft pleadings, opinions, reports, motion materials, mediation briefs, and other litigation documents.
Develop litigation strategies and provide practical legal advice to insurer, corporate, municipal, and institutional clients.
Collaborate with senior litigators on complex and high-value matters.
Delegate work effectively to legal assistants, law clerks, and support staff.
Maintain accurate file management, docketing, client reporting, and compliance with litigation deadlines.
Build strong client relationships through responsive communication and strategic advocacy.
Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
3-5 years of Ontario insurance defence and civil litigation experience.
Experience independently managing litigation files through all stages of the litigation process.
Strong knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure, Insurance Act, and LAT Rules of Practice.
Excellent advocacy, legal research, drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
Strong organizational, client management, and file management abilities.
