Master 150GT (D) (LCWE)
About the Role
We are currently seeking experienced Captains to join our team and support our growing operations across BC. The Master has overall responsibility for the safe navigation of the vessel, the leadership of the crew, and the execution of towing and ship-assist operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Navigate and handle tugs in barge towing, and river/coastal operations.
- Plan and execute each voyage with care – assess tides, weather forecasts, navigational hazards, and any local restrictions before and during transit. Adjust plans as needed to maintain safe and efficient operations.
- Lead and supervise the tug’s crew, fostering a safety-first culture. Ensure all crew members follow Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards and the company’s established safe operating procedures.
- Maintain strict compliance with the company’s Safety Management System and all regulatory requirements, including the new Marine Safety Management System Regulations (MSMSR).
- Ensure effective communication with shore operations, dispatchers, and port authorities for traffic coordination and operational updates. The Master is expected to work closely with the Operations Manager and shore-based team to promote overall efficiency and safety.
Qualifications
- Valid Transport Canada Master 150 GT (D) (LCWE)
- Minimum 2 years of hands on experience
- Required training: Required training will be provided.
- Valid Marine Medical Certificate and passport.
- No Criminal Record.
- D&A Test
- Proven tug and barge handling experience on Fraser River and coastal BC waters.
- Strong seamanship, communication, and leadership skills.
