Position Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated legal assistant to join our growing team. This role is ideal for a candidate with strong legal knowledge and exceptional writing skills to contribute meaningfully to our diverse practice. In this role, the legal assistant will be responsible for drafting a wide range of legal documents and providing essential support to our partners and associates with all phases of the litigation process.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare correspondence, briefs, affidavits, motions, and other documents
- Arrange for filing and service of court documents
- Liaise with clients and other related parties
- Track and calendar critical dates, such as filing deadlines and limitation periods
- Collect, examine, and organize evidence and other legal documents for review and case preparation
- File management and document administration
- Assist counsel in preparing for and attending court
- Performing other legal administrative tasks as required
Required Knowledge & Experience
- A strong sense of urgency and attention to detail
- A high level of initiative
- Resourceful and perceptive with a willingness to learn
- Self-starter capable of working independently and as part of a team
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Civil litigation process - understanding the stages from pleadings to trial
- Court rules and procedures, particularly the Rules of Civil Procedure and relevant court forms
