Day Camp Maintenance – Kayla’s Children Centre

Position Overview:
Kayla’s Children Centre is seeking a reliable and motivated individual to join our Maintenance Team for Camp this summer. As part of our team, you'll play an essential role in keeping our camp environment safe, clean, and fully functional. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work, being outdoors, and contributing to a meaningful cause.
Accountability:
The Maintenance role will be performed independently, with direction and support from the Camp Directors, Operations Manager & the Maintenance Team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and follow a daily schedule for setup, takedown, and clean-up tasks.
- Set up and dismantle temporary camp structures (e.g. tents, sports areas) each day.
- Maintain cleanliness of camp buildings and outdoor areas.
- Complete general maintenance projects assigned by the Camp Directors.
- Regularly inspect and ensure all equipment is in working order.
- Respond promptly to maintenance, assembly, or cleanup requests.
- Report any repair needs beyond your scope to the Maintenance Supervisor.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support camp operations.
Requirements:
- High level of integrity, organization, and attention to detail
- Strong English communication skills, both spoken and written
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
- Police Check and valid Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) required prior to start
Preferred Skills and Attributes:
- Strong interpersonal skills and a positive attitude
- Comfortable using basic tools and equipment
- Able to follow written and visual step-by-step instructions to assemble and install items
- Self-motivated and able to work independently
- Willingness to comply with all camp policies and contribute to a safe, supportive environment
Schedule:
- Day Camp: June 22 – August 26
Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (Includes some additional evening & legal holiday hours).
