Overview
Join our dynamic team as a Labour / Spotter, where your energy and vigilance will play a vital role in ensuring safety and efficiency on-site. In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for guiding heavy machinery operations, maintaining clear communication with operators and other team members, and supporting the smooth flow of work in a fast-paced environment. Your proactive approach and attention to detail will help create a safe, organized, and productive workspace for everyone involved.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate excellent punctuality.
- Use an electronic timesheet program.
- Complete daily work tickets and/or crew time logs
- Ensure tasks are completed as directed by supervisor and/or operator.
- When working in the field ensure all necessary/ required road signs are in place before the job begins and when the job is done.
- Be aware of work surroundings.
- Working under site supervisor clearing up brush, branches, stack wood and debris and assisting with spotting following SWP, cutting grass, trimming, raking and fueling up equipment as required.
- Work with equipment operators making them aware of any rocks, wet spots, stopping them from working when vehicles are coming, assist with backing up.
- Assist keeping the truck and work equipment clean and organized.
- Shop work as required.
- Maintain good communication with the Equipment Operator and On-Site Supervisor.
- Assist all working aspects of the company as required.
- Adhere to all Company policies and safety work practice (5.2.18. SWP - Equipment and Vehicle Spotting)
Working Conditions:
- Work in a field environment.
- Conduct in a business and professional manner with Clients, Vendors, Employees etc.
- Work hours may vary to meet Company needs.
- Can be stressful at times.
- Working under extreme weather change throughout the year.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work outdoors, including lifting heavy branches, prolonged standing and leaning in various positions that are not upright.
- Might have to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Maybe required to travel between different work locations including overnight(s) stays
Skills
- Strong awareness of safety standards related to construction or industrial sites
- Excellent communication skills for clear hand signals and radio use
- Ability to remain alert and attentive during extended periods of work
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, lift, and perform manual tasks throughout shifts
- Prior experience as a spotter or in a similar labour role is preferred but not mandatory
- Knowledge of basic site safety regulations and procedures is advantageous
Work Requirements:
- Legal working age.
- Work experience is an asset.
- Valid drivers License
- Chainsaw ticket an asset.
Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 – 50.0 per week
