Quality Control Technician

SUMMARY
Reporting to the Quality Control Manager, the Quality Control Technician is responsible for supporting and driving the accuracy of material testing and field data collection. This role plays a critical part in the Quality team and works closely with site operations and laboratory staff. You will be responsible for ensuring that all asphalt and aggregate materials meet project specifications through rigorous field sampling and laboratory analysis.
PRIMARY SCOPE OF ROLE
Field Sampling & Data Collection
- Lead the collection of asphalt and aggregate samples from various construction, plant, and quarry sites.
- Operate specialized drilling equipment to procure hot mix core samples for testing.
- Own the end-to-end transport and delivery of site samples to the laboratory.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Partner with cross-functional teams, including site supervisors and plant operators, to coordinate site visits.
- Communicate insights and potential material risks to the Quality Control Manager and site leadership.
- Support leadership decision-making through the accurate recording and reporting of test results.
Process Improvement & Compliance
- Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and accuracy of field sampling techniques.
- Recommend and implement enhancements to laboratory testing workflows.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety policies, environmental procedures, and industry standards
Operational Support
- Maintain field equipment and lab machinery to ensure optimal working condition.
- Mitigate project delays by providing timely feedback on material quality.
- Ensure all documentation is organized and accessible for internal audits.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
- Physical Ability to lift and move up to 25 kilos regularly in a field environment.
- Results-driven with a proven ability to deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to connect and interact with diverse teams to seek different perspectives.
- Superb communication skills, both written and verbal, for recording data and reporting findings.
- Travel Requirements: Daily travel to various site locations is required.

- Expected hourly rate: $20-$23. The actual base rate will depend on several factors including experience, qualifications, internal equity, work location and market expectations.
