Dear Grain is seeking a Full-time Junior Pastry Chef with baking experience to join our bakery.
We are looking for someone caring, passionate, and dynamic who is interested in committing themselves to the craft of making sourdough pastries.
Key Responsibilities

Assist in preparing, mixing, and laminating sourdough croissant doughs following standardized recipes and production schedules

Accurately scale ingredients and help prepare components for laminated pastry production, including doughs, butter blocks (beurrage), starters, and fillings

Support lamination processes (rolling, folding, resting) while learning proper technique and consistency

Assist with shaping, proofing, and baking croissants and laminated pastries according to daily production needs and quality standards

Follow the daily production plan and support an efficient and organized lamination workflow

Help execute daily production based on inventory levels and wholesale orders

Work collaboratively with the bakery team to support smooth day-to-day operations

Assist team members as needed and take direction from senior staff and managers

Support Bakery and Production Managers with general production tasks

Maintain ingredient levels by restocking supplies and informing team leads when items are low

Help organize and maintain storage areas, ensuring proper labeling and FIFO rotation

Assist with packaging and organizing croissant orders to ensure accuracy and freshness

Follow quality control guidelines by paying attention to dough handling, shaping, and final product standards

Report any issues with dough, ingredients, or equipment to senior team members

Follow all food safety, sanitation, and equipment operation standards

Maintain a clean, organized, and temperature-controlled workspace

Contribute to a positive, respectful, and team-oriented work environment
Schedule

Monday to Friday, between 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM (four 10-hour shifts per week)

Weekend availability may be required in the future

Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a high volume production kitchen/food business
- Reliable, team-oriented, and hands-on approach to work
- Highly dedicated professional with a strong work ethic
- Willingness to take on challenges and support team goals
- Possess basic cooking and knife handling skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and perform repetitive tasks
- Comfortable working in a high-volume, fast-paced production environment
