Job Overview
We are looking for a proactive and experienced Fleet / Shop Manager to oversee our vehicle and equipment operations. In this role, you'll be responsible for managing a diverse fleet of heavy machinery, industrial equipment, and service vehicles, ensuring they are maintained, repaired, and operated efficiently. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in dealership environments, mechanical repairs, and heavy equipment operation, combined with excellent leadership and organizational skills. Duties
- Oversee daily operations of the shop, including scheduling maintenance and repairs for heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm machinery.
- Manage the procurement of parts and supplies needed for vehicle and equipment repairs, ensuring timely availability.
- Conduct inspections using schematics and technical manuals to diagnose issues with transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, air brakes, HVAC systems, diesel engines, and other mechanical components.
- Supervise a team of technicians and mechanics, providing guidance on automotive diagnostics, welding, fabrication, electrical troubleshooting, and general equipment repair.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards related to heavy lifting, tire service, welding practices, and use of power tools.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance schedules, repairs performed, and parts used to support warranty claims and operational efficiency.
- Coordinate with other departments or clients to schedule service appointments while maintaining high customer service standards.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working in dealership environments or managing a fleet of heavy machinery and industrial equipment.
- Strong mechanical knowledge across various systems including transmissions, hydraulics, electrical components, and diesel engines.
- Hands-on experience with mechanics is an asset. A working knowledge of parts, ordering and excellent data collection is key.
- Knowledge of automotive repair procedures including brake repair, alignment services, shocks & struts replacement, HVAC servicing, and tire servicing.
- Ability to operate heavy equipment such as excavators or forklifts safely and efficiently.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
