Facility Attendant (Part-Time)
Position Summary
The Facility Attendant is responsible for the cleanliness, safety, and security of the facility and surrounding grounds. This position plays a key role in ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all patrons, renters, program participants, and community members. The Facility Attendant serves as a frontline representative of the Centre and is expected to provide excellent customer service while supporting facility operations.
Key Responsibilities
General Maintenance
- Inspect, clean, and maintain all washrooms, showers, change rooms, canteen areas, activity spaces, hallways, and public areas on a daily basis.
- Set up and take down tables, chairs, equipment, and other items required for facility rentals, programs, and special events.
- Keep all entrances, exits, sidewalks, and emergency access routes clear of snow and ice.
- Perform snow removal and apply ice-melting products as required.
- Maintain grounds, parking lots, and outdoor areas by removing litter, debris, and garbage.
- Empty garbage and recycling receptacles as required.
- Conduct regular building and grounds security checks throughout each shift.
- Enforce facility policies, procedures, and rules in a respectful and professional manner.
- Identify safety hazards and take corrective action where appropriate or report concerns to the Supervisor.
- Ensure public safety by monitoring facility conditions and responding to concerns promptly.
- Follow all Workplace Safety and Health policies, procedures, and standards.
- Wear and utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Report building damage, equipment malfunctions, and maintenance concerns to the Supervisor.
- Complete incident and accident reports as required.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance and general caretaking duties for all buildings and equipment.
- Maintain accurate records, logs, inspections, and documentation as required.
Public Relations and Customer Service
- Serve as a positive and professional representative of the Centre.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with patrons, renters, volunteers, and community members.
- Respond to in-person inquiries in a courteous and helpful manner.
- Assist with public safety concerns and communicate issues to supervisors when necessary.
- Maintain a working knowledge of Centre programs, services, schedules, and facility operations.
- Support community events and activities as required.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in facility maintenance, custodial services, customer service, or a related field is considered an asset.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to perform physical duties including lifting, carrying, bending, shoveling snow, and standing for extended periods.
- Basic knowledge of workplace safety practices and procedures.
- First Aid/CPR certification is considered an asset.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is required.
Pay: $16.00-$18.00 per hour
