Railcar Repair Technician – Lanigan, Saskatchewan

We have an exciting opportunity for a reliable Railcar Repair Technician. This position reports to the Supervisor, Lanigan, and services our customers at their site. This opportunity is perfect for an experienced individual looking for an opportunity in an organization that offers advancement.
Job Summary:
The Railcar Repair Technician will be responsible for assisting with the repair requirements of the customers while completing work in a safe and Responsible Care environment.
- Organizing all tool areas and maintaining the facility
- Servicing, repair and replacement of rail car components, including:
- Hopper gates, top hatch covers, running boards, brake shoes, knuckle pins, truck springs, bearing adaptors, friction casting wear plates, etc
- Working from heights and in confined spaces
- Exterior/Interior corrosion repairs
- Exterior/Interior painting preparation, repairs and stenciling
- Inspection and repair of safety appliances
- Assisting in setting up and teardown of safe work areas
- Working both inside the facility and outdoors as required, in all weather conditions
- Adhere to health and safety standards, including Transco’s Rail Services Responsible Care policy
- Additional related duties as assigned
- Training will be provided by Transco Rail Services to develop competency in the above tasks
Competencies:
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
- Welding - asset
- NDT (non-destructive testing) - asset
- CNC Machining - asset
- Competent and safe use of shop tools and equipment: cranes, electric/pneumatic/hydraulic tools, and hand tools
- Railcar repair experience would be an asset
- Detail oriented
- Able to work well independently
- Strong initiative
- Effective communication and organization skills
- Adhere to Transco Rail Services health and safety standards (including the Responsible Care policy), and wears the required PPE for the job in a safe manner
- All applicants must complete and pass our full medical testing upon hire
The regular working hours of this position are as follows: 10 & 12 hour shift rotation based on a 40-hour week. These hours may change depending on business requirements.
