Duties
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history reviews using advanced EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems like Epic or Cerner.
- Administer medications and injections accurately, including IV infusions and medication management for pain control, sedation, or chronic conditions.
- Assist with complex procedures such as catheterization, suturing, tube feeding, and sterile dressing changes following aseptic techniques.
- Provide specialized care in areas such as ICU, trauma medicine at Level I or Level II trauma centers, pediatric intensive care (PICU), or neonatal units with neonatal ventilator management.
- Conduct triage assessments in urgent care or emergency room settings to prioritize patient needs efficiently and effectively.
- Manage documentation meticulously including medical records, coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), and medical documentation to ensure compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with physicians and specialists in fields like cardiology for cardiac catheterization, infectious disease care, hospice & palliative medicine, or behavioral health to develop tailored treatment plans.
- Support discharge planning and case management efforts for patients transitioning from hospital to home or long-term care facilities such as assisted living or nursing homes.
- Engage in patient education on health coaching topics such as geriatrics, memory care, dementia care, or family planning to promote long-term wellness.
Qualifications
- Valid RN license in good standing with current state requirements.
- Proven experience in critical care environments such as ICU or emergency medicine; hospital experience preferred.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, eClinicalWorks; proficiency in ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9) is highly desirable.
- Hands-on experience with advanced procedures like IV insertion, phlebotomy, ostomy care, ventilator management, and laboratory specimen collection/processing.
- Knowledge of physiology and anatomy principles essential for accurate patient assessment and diagnostic evaluation.
- Experience working with diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, individuals with disabilities or developmental disabilities; familiarity with trauma medicine and acute pain management is a plus.
- Strong understanding of infection control practices and HIPAA compliance standards.
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments such as urgent care centers or trauma units; excellent communication skills required for collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.
