We are looking for an energetic, multi-talented individual to join our team in a dual role that is part skilled barista and part early childhood play advocate. This isn’t your average coffee shop job, you’ll be crafting high-quality beverages while ensuring our play space remains a safe, clean, and magical environment for children and their caregivers.
Key Responsibilities
The Coffee Side (Barista)
- Craft Exceptional Drinks: Prepare and serve a variety of specialty coffee, tea, and seasonal beverages with consistency and speed.
- Product Knowledge: Confidently explain our menu, including seasonal specials and local treats, to help customers find their perfect drink.
- Service Excellence: Provide warm, friendly service that makes every parent and caregiver feel welcome and supported.
- Maintain Standards: Keep the cafe counter, espresso machine, and seating area pristine and compliant with health and safety regulations.
The Play Side (Play Enthusiast)
- Space Curation: Monitor the play area to ensure it stays organized, inviting, and safe for children aged 0–6.
- Engagement: Help to set up and run Birthday Parties, including clean up between back to back parties in a timely manner. Occasionally facilitate or assist with themed events.
- Safety & Hygiene: Ensure to follow cleaning protocols for toys and high-touch surfaces to maintain a healthy environment for our youngest guests.
- Community Building: Act as a bridge between the cafe and the play space, helping new families navigate our community offerings and programs.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: Previous barista or food service experience is highly preferred. Experience working with children or in an early childhood setting is a significant asset.
- Multitasking Pro: Ability to pivot quickly between steaming milk and tidying a play zone without losing your cool.
- Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills, you should be as comfortable chatting with a toddler as you are with their parents.
- Reliability: Punctual, dependable, and ready to contribute to a small, hardworking team.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, move quickly, and frequently bend or kneel to organize play equipment.
