Central Utility Services is recruiting a Full-Time Heavy Equipment/Class One Operator. This position reports to our facility yard location in Shawnigan Lake, Malahat, BC. In this position you will operate various pieces of equipment including an excavator, dump truck, large commercial trucks that require a class one license and may also include a vac truck. You will be at assigned job sites including loading, digging, breaking rocks or debris, dirt, or other materials to locate underground utilities, potholing, trenching, etc. The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for the completion of projects in a safe and timely manner.
Qualifications required:
· Communicate effectively, professionally and demonstrate a strong customer service focus in all interactions.
· Troubleshoot minor mechanical issues and as the need arises perform minor repairs to equipment. Mechanical inclination is an asset.
· Use technology (iPad) for field ticketing and time. Properly document all customer paperwork as required.
· Two years heavy equipment experience is required that includes but is not limited to operating a dump truck, excavator, vacuum truck (considered an asset) and various pieces of other equipment
· Must have a Class 3 DL with airbrake endorsement, Class 1 DL preferred and an acceptable driving record.
· Experience in a labor-intensive position and working outside in all types of weather conditions year round.
· Ability to work independently in a team and safety focused environment.
