Overview
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Japanese cuisine, particularly sushi preparation, and possess a keen eye for detail and presentation. Responsibilities
- Prepare a variety of sushi dishes with precision and artistry, ensuring consistency and quality.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Source fresh ingredients and manage inventory levels to ensure availability of necessary supplies.
- Educate and mentor junior kitchen staff or trainees on sushi preparation techniques and presentation skills.
- Collaborate with the culinary team to develop new menu items and improve existing recipes.
- Uphold high standards of food safety, hygiene, and sanitation throughout all stages of food preparation.
- Assist with other kitchen duties as needed, including plating, garnishing, and customer service support.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar culinary role specializing in Japanese cuisine.
- Strong skills in cooking, with particular expertise in sushi preparation and knife techniques.
- Experience working with children or in educational settings is a plus; ability to tutor or teach culinary skills is desirable.
- Familiarity with classroom experience or early childhood education is beneficial for roles involving mentorship or training new staff.
- Excellent attention to detail, creativity, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and sanitation procedures.
