Summary
Under the direction of the Building Manager and within the Mission, Values, Vision and Objectives of the Bethania Group, the Lighting and Sound Technician will operate house lighting equipment and sound boards during events and theatre productions held in the theatre located at 285 Pembina Highway. The Lighting and Sound Technician is responsible for providing professional sound and lighting support, including the setup, operation, maintenance, and teardown of lighting and audio equipment.
Responsibilities
- Liaise with the Building Manager to establish light and sound requirements for performances/productions.
- Plot lighting design, as well as assemble and set up lighting and sound equipment while ensuring all equipment is in working order.
- Operate lighting and audio consoles for duration of a theatre production.
- Tear down all equipment post theatre productions and ensuring safe transportation/storage.
- Report required maintenance or malfunctions to Building Manager immediately.
- Keep accurate records or labor, materials and other pertinent information regarding productions costs.
Qualifications
- Grade 12 education or equivalent.
- 2-3 years experience in operating lighting and sound systems for theatrical productions.
- Available to work various hours including evenings, weekdays and weekends.
- Education in Theatre Arts an asset including lighting design or other relevant studies in electrical engineering or electronics.
- Valid and current safety certificate in "Scissor Lift' operations.
- Able to lift/pull/push 50 lbs. Able to lift above above shoulders, bend, twist and climb ladder.
- Clear Criminal Record Check (with Vulnerable Sector Check) and Adult Abuse Registry Check.
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills in English.
