We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Long Haul Driver to join our logistics team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting freight over long distances, ensuring timely and safe delivery while adhering to all regulations and company policies. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, excellent driving skills, and the ability to manage time efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Operate a commercial vehicle to transport freight across state lines and long distances.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, rest periods, and mileage in accordance with federal regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers regarding routes, delays, and any issues that may arise during transit.
- Ensure the secure loading and unloading of freight, utilizing appropriate equipment as needed.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations while maintaining a high standard of safety on the road.
- Manage time effectively to meet delivery schedules while ensuring compliance with hours of service regulations.
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial driving with a valid CDL (Commercial Driver's License).
- Knowledge of freight handling procedures and logistics operations.
- Familiarity with forklift operation for loading and unloading cargo is preferred.
- Basic automotive repair skills to address minor vehicle issues on the road are advantageous.
- Experience in heavy equipment operation may be beneficial for specific transport needs.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for maintaining accurate logs and documentation.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with dispatchers, clients, and other team members.
