Aegis Custom Powder Coaters, a local family-owned operation, is looking for a permanent full-time BLAST BOOTH OPERATOR to join a small growth-orientated team.
The Blast Booth Operator is responsible for preparing, blasting, and finishing metal or other industrial surfaces using abrasive blasting equipment inside a controlled blast booth environment. This role ensures surfaces meet required specifications for coating, painting, or further fabrication while maintaining strict safety and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate abrasive blasting equipment to clean, strip, or prepare surfaces according to job specifications.
- Inspect incoming parts for defects, contamination, or preparation needs before blasting.
- Select appropriate blasting media (e.g., steel grit, glass bead, aluminum oxide) based on material and finish requirements.
- Set up and maintain blast booth equipment, including hoses, nozzles, ventilation, and dust collection systems.
- Monitor blasting pressure, media flow, and booth conditions to ensure consistent quality.
- Perform surface profile checks using gauges and visual inspection standards.
- Handle and move parts using cranes, hoists, forklifts, or manual methods.
- Clean and maintain the blast booth, including media recovery and disposal.
- Follow all safety protocols, including PPE use (respirators, suits, gloves, hearing protection).
- Document work performed, including job travelers, inspection sheets, and equipment logs.
- Communicate with supervisors, painters, and quality inspectors to ensure workflow accuracy.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience operating abrasive blasting equipment in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Strong understanding of industrial safety procedures, especially respiratory protection.
- Mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting equipment issues.
- Ability to work independently and maintain consistent productivity.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 50–75 lbs regularly.
- Comfortable working in confined spaces, noisy environments, and wearing full PPE.
- Standing, bending, and repetitive motion for extended periods.
- Tolerance for dusty or abrasive environments (with proper protection).
Pay: $25.00-$27.00 per hour
