About The Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and client-focused Underwriting Assistant to support our Commercial Realty Program team. This role is responsible for providing underwriting and administrative support for a portfolio of commercial realty business, including new business, renewals, endorsements, and broker/client service activities.
The successful candidate will work closely with underwriters, brokers, and internal teams to support efficient policy processing, maintain accurate documentation, and deliver high-quality service to commercial realty clients across Canada.
What You’ll Do

Support underwriters with new business submissions, renewals, endorsements, and policy changes for commercial realty accounts.

Review submissions for completeness, obtain outstanding documentation, and maintain accurate underwriting files and policy records.

Prepare policy documentation, endorsements, and related underwriting correspondence.

Assist with quoting, rating, policy issuance, and file preparation in accordance with underwriting guidelines and service standards.

Respond to broker, and internal inquiries regarding policy status, documentation, and underwriting requirements.

Coordinate with insurers, brokers, and internal departments to support efficient service delivery and issue resolution.

Monitor renewals, follow-up activities, and outstanding requirements to ensure timelines and service standards are met.

Support reporting, workflow management, and process improvement initiatives while ensuring compliance with internal procedures and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications and expertise that pave the way for Success

1–3 years of insurance industry experience, preferably in underwriting support, commercial lines, policy administration, or brokerage operations.

Experience supporting commercial property or realty portfolios is considered an asset.

Strong administrative and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a high-volume environment.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong customer service orientation and relationship management skills.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and insurance broker management/underwriting systems.

The expected salary range for this position is $40,000 to $45,000 and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate’s skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position’s business line, scope and level. HUB International is proud to offer comprehensive benefit and total compensation packages which could include extended health benefits, disability insurance, RRSP matching, paid-time-off benefits, and eligible bonuses, and commissions for some positions.
