The Special Events Coordinator will play a key role in supporting the planning, organization, and promotion of the Vernon Winter Carnival throughout the summer season. This position combines administrative office work with hands-on event and community engagement responsibilities, providing an exciting opportunity to develop skills in event planning, marketing, communication, and public relations.
The successful candidate will assist with office coordination, outreach activities, and community promotions to help prepare in the off season for one of Vernon’s most celebrated annual festivals.
Key Responsibilities:
Event Planning and Coordination
Assist with the planning, organization, and logistics of Carnival events and summer outreach activities.
Support the development and coordination of promotional events, parades, and community appearances.
Help schedule and organize meetings, maintain event calendars, and track project timelines.
Contribute creative ideas to enhance Carnival programming, themes, and community participation.
Administrative and Office Support
Organize and maintain event files, databases, and records in an efficient and accessible manner.
Assist with correspondence, scheduling, and communication between staff, volunteers, sponsors, and
community partners
Support day-to-day office operations, including data entry, report preparation, and document organization.
Help prepare promotional materials, newsletters, and updates for Carnival stakeholders.
Community Engagement and Promotion
Represent the Vernon Winter Carnival at community events, parades, and festivals throughout the summer.
Distribute promotional materials, engage with the public, and share information about upcoming Carnival activities.
Assist with social media and marketing initiatives by capturing photos, stories, and event highlights for online promotion.
Act as a positive ambassador for the Carnival, helping to strengthen community connections and awareness.

Program Grant. Applicants must be between the ages of 15 to 30. Contracts run for a 8 week time period starting June 8 to Aug 3. Two (2) positions will be hired.
Salary: $18.25-$25 hourly based on experience
