Alta Material Handling is seeking a full-time Parts Clerk for our material handling group at our Québec City, Quebec location. The main responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Process parts purchases and sales
- Actively sell parts and upsell when appropriate
- Ensure profit levels meet department targets
- Maintain customer satisfaction, including internal customers
- Inspect, unpack, and organize incoming parts
- Pick, pack, and prepare parts for delivery
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the department
- Participate in physical inventory counts
- Incorporate Alta’s core values into daily activities
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Maintain consistent, regular, and reliable attendance, including being ready to work at the scheduled time
Qualifications:
- Minimum of one year of experience in parts (preferred)
- Bilingual in French and English (optional)
- High school diploma or certificate
- Strong communication skills and professionalism required
- Knowledge and understanding of profit margin and gross margin
- Good telephone etiquette
- Basic mechanical understanding and ability to visually identify and name equipment parts related to the industry
- Computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Epicor/Silk systems, supplier web portals
- Language skills – basic: Ability to read and understand simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; ability to write simple correspondence; ability to effectively present information in one-on-one or small group settings to customers and other employees
- Basic math skills: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers, and multiply/divide by 10 and 100; ability to perform calculations using U.S. currency and measurements of weight, volume, and distance
- Reasoning ability – basic: Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed but uncomplicated written or oral instructions; ability to deal with a few concrete variables in standardized situations
Physical Requirements / Work Environment:
- Physical/Sensory Functions: Regular use of hands; frequent sitting; occasional standing, walking, reaching, bending, kneeling, crouching, or crawling; frequent speaking and hearing
- Vision: Close and distance vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus and distinguish colors
- Lifting/Moving: Frequently lift up to 25 lbs; occasionally lift from 26 up to over 100 lbs
- Work Environment: Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts
