Position Summary
The Production Manufacturing Engineer plays a key role in optimizing manufacturing operations, improving production flow, inventory controls and coordinating scheduling activities to ensure efficient, on-time production.
This role combines manufacturing engineering, production planning, process improvement, and operational problem-solving. The ideal candidate is analytical, highly organized, technically strong, and comfortable balancing both strategic improvements and daily production demands.
Core Responsibilities
- Develop, improve, and maintain manufacturing processes, work instructions, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Analyze production workflows to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and increase productivity
- Support new product launches, process validation, and production scaling
- Design and implement tooling, fixtures, and process improvements
- Troubleshoot manufacturing issues and implement corrective actions
- Conduct root cause analysis for quality or production concerns
- Collaborate with Production, Quality, Sales and Customer Service teams to resolve operational issues
- Monitor KPIs including throughput, downtime, scrap, yield, and labour efficiency
- Support continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing principles
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements
- Robotics Management –
- Assist in developing an automation roadmap for each production machine.
- Review current machine layouts and identify automation opportunities.
- Support the design of machine cells for part removal, handling, stacking, and palletizing.
- Work with automation vendors to gather quotes, layouts, concepts, and technical recommendations.
- Help evaluate robotic systems, end-of-arm tooling, conveyors, safety guarding, sensors, and related automation equipment.
- Support implementation planning for automation projects from concept through installation.
- Track project timelines, action items, vendor responses, and open technical questions.
- Create and daily production schedules based on customer orders, inventory levels, and capacity
- Develop production timelines and adjust schedules as needed to meet deadlines
- Monitor and coordinate raw material requirements to ensure production needs and minimum inventory levels are met
· Manage warehouse floor plan, including storage, organization, and setting minimum inventory levels
- Track work orders, production output, and inventory movement
- Forecast production requirements and labour needs
- Ensure efficient machine and labour utilization
- Lead weekly production meetings, outlining priorities and providing updates to relevant departments
· Train and supervise warehouse staff on procedural operations
· Develop, implement, and maintain inventory control procedures
· Communicate any current or projected inventory shortfalls to appropriate teams
· Conduct consistent inventory counts, cycle counts, and reconciliations to maintain accuracy
· Analyze inventory data to identify trends, shortages, overstock, and opportunities for improvement
· Implement and maintain scan gun inventory system
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Production Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, production planning, and operations
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive annual salary of $70,000–$120,000, based on experience and qualifications
