BCIT’s School of Transportation Heavy Equipment Group is seeking a temporary, full-time (1.0 FTE) Marine Mechanical Instructorfor ongoing instruction at our campus on Annacis Island in Delta to deliver training in our Marine day school foundation or apprenticeship programs. This position includes instructional responsibilities such as: teaching provincial curriculum; short-term coverage for full-time Instructor release; preparing and presenting classroom lectures, course delivery and assessment materials; providing practical demonstrations; and working collaboratively within our heavy equipment team and with the Department Heads. The ideal candidate will be able to bring industry experience into the classroom, develop course and program curriculum, deal with relevant operational and educational issues, and cultivate positive relationships with students. Candidates should be experienced working with, in/out board engines, diesel engines, different drive systems (out board lower, stern drives, jets), black/grey water systems, fresh water systems, fiber glassing, electrical, hydraulics, trailers, trailer brake systems, and shipyard safety.
