Objective
Reporting to the Director of Financial Reporting, the Controller is responsible for assisting the team in financial management of approximately $250M in annual revenues distributed over 40+ companies involved in various stages of development in Alberta, BC and Ontario. The Controller is accountable for professional work that includes, but is not limited to:
Role and Responsibilities
- Control of revenue, expenditures and cash management for assigned Cantiro project companies
- Accuracy of financial information
- Interaction with CRA on all GST related issues
- Identification and collaboration with Project and Development Managers, on financial issues that impact the cash flow and profitability of projects
- Job cost accounting on a project by project basis and review of project cost controls to ensure budgets are adhered to by Project and Development managers
- Assisting in the maintenance and continuous improvement of all project accounting systems, budgeting and cash-flow systems, and reporting procedures along with the Director of Financial Reporting.
- Preparing monthly project financials, as well as quarterly and year-end financial reports to shareholders
- Any other responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Degree in Accounting or Commerce or equivalent
- CPA Designation
- Comprehensive knowledge of the practices and principles of accounting
- Knowledge/experience of the development industry and best practices
- 3-5 years of post-designation experience in a similar role preferred

Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of Sage and particularly Sage Intacct considered an asset.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- This position requires minimum 40 hours per week and may be subject to flexible scheduling including early morning, and late night work.
- This position may include moderate lifting of supplies and equipment and will require an individual to be able to concentrate in a busy environment.
