The Opportunity
We are looking for an Intermediate Accountant to join our Finance Team at CUPS. This role is 30 hours per week, Monday to Thursday.
Reporting to the Team Lead, Accounting Operations, the Intermediate Accountant is responsible for working within the framework of the finance team in processing supplier invoices and employee expense claims for payment. They will ensure the accuracy of payment requests, ensure allocation to the proper general ledger accounts, and reconcile credit card and vendor statements.

- Starting salary: $51,062.90 - $53,431.638
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, process and post payables-related information including vendor invoices, expense reimbursements and corporate VISAs, in a computerized accounting system, analyzing and correcting discrepancies,
- Responsible for preparation or review of reconciliations for AP, Prepaid Expenses, Accrued Liabilities, and Fixed Assets
- Execute payment runs as required
- Liaise with divisional department managers for approval and payment authorization of invoices
- Reconciles the general ledger accounts and prepares journal entries monthly
- Responsible for variance analysis of general & administrative expenses, for both monthly and year-to-date operating results
- Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, following organizational policy and accepted accounting principles
- Assist in the annual audit by preparing assigned reports and providing documentation as requested
- Coordinate and support Fund Development processes that intersect with Finance, including the accurate and timely entry of financial information into Raiser’s Edge.
- Other related tasks and administrative duties as assigned.
Employment Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of progressively responsible experience in accounting, preferably in the public or non-profit sector
- Post‑secondary certificate or diploma in accounting is required
- Excellent database management and navigation skills
- Advanced Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications with excellent aptitude in Pivot tables, VLookup.
- Acceptable Criminal Background Check.
What You Bring
- Previous experience in positions focused on general accounting, moderate to complex reconciliations, analysis, reporting, payables, receivables, and payroll is essential
- Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills
- Strong customer service orientation and ability to deliver all tasks with a high degree of professionalism
- Demonstration of professional judgment for handling confidential information and monetary transactions

- Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
- Intermittent physical activity including walking, standing, sitting, and lifting (minimum 35lbs)
