About the Role
Roadside Supply Ltd. is seeking a motivated and hardworking Forklift Operator / Yard Worker to join our team. This is a dynamic role that involves a mix of equipment operation, manual labour, and warehouse organization. If you are a self-starter who works well both independently and within a team, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
- Order Fulfillment: Packing customer orders accurately and efficiently.
- Logistics Support: Aiding in the loading and unloading of trucks.
- Assembly: Making hardware kits for received items and constructing guide posts.
- Yard Maintenance: Maintaining clean dunnage piles and ensuring overall shop material storage and yard cleanliness.
- Tool Operation: Safe use of various power tools and hand tools.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Physical Ability: Must be capable of regular heavy lifting.
- Professionalism: Self-motivated with the ability to keep busy during downtime.
- Equipment Experience (Assets): Experience with Forklifts, Rough Terrain Forklifts, Telehandlers, or Loaders is a significant asset but not required.
- Logistics Experience (Asset): Experience with flat decks and trailers is considered an asset.
Safety Standards
Safety is our top priority. You will be expected to:
- Wear steel-toe boots and gloves at all times in the shop and yard.
- Use proper safety gear (earplugs, safety glasses, etc.) when operating power tools.
- Communicate immediately with management or the safety officer regarding unsafe conditions or missing equipment.
Schedule & Compensation
- Biweekly Pay: Pay cheques are issued every two weeks.
- Overtime: 1.5X the regular wage for hours worked over 40 per week.
- Vacation: Standard vacation pay is provided. We offer flexible hours for time off with sufficient notice; however, we prefer that significant vacation time is not taken between August 15 and September 30.
- Lunch: A 1/2 hour lunch break is provided, typically at 12:00 PM (flexible based on customer needs).
Operating Hours:
- Winter: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM.
- Summer: Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM.
- Note: Summer hours may occasionally include the odd Saturday or slightly extended weekday shifts.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00-$35.00 per hour
