Job Summary: The Social Media Coordinator is a temporary summer position funded through the Canada Summer Jobs Program. This role runs for 8 weeks at 35 hours per week and supports the organization’s communications, outreach, and knowledge-sharing activities across digital platforms.
Reporting to the Communications team, the Social Media Coordinator will assist with creating, scheduling, and publishing engaging content across social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and TikTok. The role involves drafting captions and stories, designing simple graphics and short-form videos, monitoring engagement, tracking analytics, and supporting digital campaigns and awareness initiatives. In addition to social media work, the Coordinator will contribute to email newsletters, program resources (e.g., guides, infographics, tip sheets), and research to support evidence-informed materials. The position also provides opportunities to support workshops, presentations, meetings, and special projects while gaining hands-on experience in communications, content creation, and digital engagement.
This role is ideal for a creative, organized, and detail-oriented individual who is interested in communications, social media, and community-focused work, and who enjoys collaborating as part of a team.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Must meet Canada Summer Jobs eligibility requirements (see above).
- Experience using social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, or TikTok (personal, school, volunteer, or work experience is acceptable).
- Ability to write clear, engaging captions and short content pieces.
- Basic experience creating graphics or short videos using tools like Canva, CapCut, or similar.
- Comfortable working with common digital tools (email, documents, shared drives).
- Organized, reliable, and able to manage tasks and deadlines.
- Enjoys working independently and as part of a team.
Assets
- Some post-secondary education in communications, marketing, journalism, media studies, public relations, or a related field.
- Experience with content scheduling, analytics, or digital campaigns.
- Experience creating reels, stories, or short-form video content.
- Interest or experience in community-based, non-profit, or equity-focused work.
- Awareness of inclusive and accessible communication practices.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create, schedule, and publish content across social media platforms (e.g.,Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok).
- Assist in developing a social media content calendar aligned with organizational priorities.
- Draft captions,stories, and posts that reflect the organization’s voice and messaging.
- Design simple graphics, reels, and short-form videos using tools such as Canva, CapCut, or similar.
- Monitor engagement, respond to comments andmessages, and flag emerging trends.
- Track analytics and prepare shortreports on reach, engagement, and audience growth.
- Assist with the creation and updating of program resources, such as guides, infographics, tip sheets, and toolkits.
- Develop email newsletter content.
- Conduct research to support the development of evidence-informed materials.
- Help formatand proofread documents for clarity, accessibility, and consistency.
- Support the organization in preparing materials for workshops, presentations, and meetings.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute creative ideas.
- Assist with special projects or events as assigned.
- Maintain organized digital files, content libraries, and documentation.
- Assist in collecting stories, testimonials, or spotlight pieces from partners or participants (with permission).
- Support digital campaigns or awareness weeks.
Pay: $18.00 per hour
