DELIVERY HELPER

Responsibilities

Prepare, load, and unload trucks manually and/or using company-provided equipment.
- Report all inventory, shipping, and receiving discrepancies, including quantity variances, damaged goods, quality concerns, or substitutions. Obtain proper authorization before receiving, shipping, or delivering any order.
- Assist in safely stacking, securing, and covering merchandise to prevent damage during transportation.
- Inspect and use load securement equipment, including straps, ropes, corner guards, and tarpaulins, in accordance with company procedures and product requirements.
- Assist the driver by guiding vehicle parking and backing maneuvers when required.
- Follow all instructions provided by the driver and supervisor while on delivery sites.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety boots and hard hats, and comply with all applicable health and safety legislation and job site regulations.
- Participate in job site hazard assessments and follow established safety procedures to recognize, assess, and control hazards.
- Use fall protection equipment when required and in accordance with applicable regulations.
- Prepare delivery areas, including openings and floors, for the safe placement of materials.
- Safely handle and transport drywall and other building materials using approved equipment and procedures.
- Assist with yard maintenance and general housekeeping duties as required.
- Remove and properly store tarpaulins and load securement equipment upon arrival at delivery locations.
- Prepare loads for unloading in accordance with driver instructions.
- Ensure any guardrails or scaffolding removed during the delivery process are immediately reinstalled once loading/unloading is complete or before the area is left unattended.
- Place materials in designated locations in compliance with site requirements and applicable regulations.
- Following delivery, ensure all equipment, blocks, and materials are returned to the truck, properly stored, and secured. Assist with vehicle backing when required while maintaining visual contact with the driver at all times.
- Assist the driver in obtaining customer signatures on delivery documentation when required.
- Maintain cleanliness of the truck cab, including the floor and rear seating area. Dispose of all garbage upon returning to the yard.
- Provide courteous and professional customer service at all times. Aggressive, abusive, or inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated.
- Work at various job site locations, reporting to and from Morin Supply, 7 Tristan Court, Nepean, ON K2E 8A4.
- Must be available to work one mandatory Saturday in July, prior to the Civic Holiday weekend, to support annual inventory activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support business operations.
Education

High school diploma or GED
Experience
- Ability to do arithmetic, read orders, write instructions and complete forms.
- Previous experience in heavy lifting is an asset.
- Communicate with customers, other employees and supervisors using verbal and written skills.
- Knowledge and ability to use safe lifting techniques.

- Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment as prescribed in designated areas
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
- Strength (lift, carry, push and pull): Maximum lift, 100 lbs.; Frequently lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, with manual dexterity and see acute depth perception and field of vision.
- Trunk rotation with 20 lbs. at arms length 180 degrees from side to side.
- Bend, stoop or squat to floor level on a repetitive basis.
