Dental Receptionist/ Hygiene Coordinator
We are looking for a dental receptionist/hygiene coordinator to join our office on a full-time basis.
We are open Monday to Friday, closed on weekends.
Monday 7:45am-4:00pm
Tuesday 7:45am-5:00pm
Wednesday 7:45am-5:00pm
Thursday 7:45am-6:00pm
Friday 7:45am-2:00pm
Responsibilities
- Ensures the patients are greeted with a smile, seated, billed out, and pre-booked for their next visit in a timely professional manner.
- Answers incoming calls, fills the schedule for clinical providers, takes and relays messages, gives information about referrals and books appointments for referrals as needed.
- Creates proper documentation (we have paper charts), and signs their name after each interaction is recorded in the patient’s charts.
- Schedules appointments, and follow up appointments. Fills cancellations and no-show openings.
- Calls patients to confirm the following day’s appointments as needed.
- Advises clients if and when account balances need to be settled.
- Manages and maintains the recall system, including ensuring pending appointments are confirmed, recalling overdue accounts, and completing chart audit files on all patients.
- Maintains and keeps current all dental records and the dental filing system in a prescribed manner.
- Ensures and protects patient confidentiality by keeping information and dental records secure at all times.
- Updates patient information such as address, email, and phone numbers at every visit.
- Follows covid-protocol and ensures all patients are pre-screened prior to their appointment.
- Receives payments for dental services; records and balances cash and receipts daily for day-end reports.
- Requests signed insurance forms during the billing process as needed.
- Performs clerical and typing duties, provides secretarial support to the providers and Dental Manager, including faxing, referrals, and correspondence.
- Maintains the reception area in a professional manner that is clean, tidy and free from clutter.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the Dental Manager.
What we are looking for
- At least 3 year’s experience as a dental receptionist.
- Previous experience managing and maintaining hygiene schedule.
- Knowledge of Abeldent software.
- Ability to multi-task and problem-solve.
- Knowledge of dental insurance.
- Able to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills, solid communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Punctuality and reliability are essential.
- Assisting experience an asset.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $24.00-$28.00 per hour
