As a valued member of the Reinsurance Operations team, you will play an integral role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and effectiveness of our reinsurance administration processes. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced reinsurance professional to apply their technical expertise, analytical skills, and systems knowledge while contributing to process enhancements and team development initiatives. As a Senior Reinsurance Analyst , you will oversee complex reinsurance transactions, support reporting and audit requirements, collaborate with reinsurers and business partners, and help advance operational excellence through continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
Key Responsibilities
- Process reinsurance transactions in the T.A.I system to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and alignment with treaty terms.
- Partner with junior team members to support the timely completion of monthly and quarterly reporting processes.
- Analyze and validate reinsurance data using tools such as Excel, Access, and SQL; perform data quality checks to identify issues (e.g., over-retention risks), resolve anomalies, and document findings .
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with reinsurers and internal stakeholders to ensure effective communication and timely resolution of inquiries.
- M aintain high standards of data quality and compliance within the reinsurance system.
- Respond to internal and external data requests, including investigating and resolving client or operational issues; proactively identify and implement process and data improvements.
- Complete reinsurance claims information requests and perform internal reviews to ensure accuracy and completeness of data provided.
- Participate in special projects, including data analysis, process documentation, and reporting initiatives.
- Process policy changes in the T.A.I system in a timely manner to ensure accurate downstream reporting.
- Support reinsurance rate updates within the T.A.I system and perform thorough testing to ensure accurate implementation.
- Perform premium calculations and interpret treaty provisions in accordance with contract terms and audit requirements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the effectiveness, efficiency, and accuracy of reinsurance operations.
- Develop and strengthen subject matter expertise in the T.A.I system by leveraging vendor resources and system documentation; support knowledge sharing across the team.
- Identify opportunities to enhance team capability through coaching, training, and sharing technical expertise.
- Maintain and update the Reinsurance Administration Procedures Manual to support knowledge transfer, training, and standardization of processes.
- Apply industry best practices to reinsurance administration processes and stay informed of relevant developments.
Qualifications:
- University degree in Business / Finance or related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of working knowledge of T.A.I system with a strong understanding of reinsurance terminology, business functions, and processes required.
- Demonstrated ability to take ownership of responsibilities, show initiative, and proactively drive tasks through to completion.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills; displays curiosity, creativity, and strong problem-solving skills.
- Fast learner.
- Ability to work with large/complex data sets.
- Strong MS Office skills (including Access).
- Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts.
- Basic SQL skills.
- LOMA designations (ACS, ALMI, ARA) nice to have.
$50,100.00 - $93,000.00
Salaried
The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type.
Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
