Horticare Landscaping is a well-established grounds maintenance company located in the East end of Ottawa. We have been in the business for over 36 years and are growing! As a team of friendly, self-motivated individuals, we take pride in maintaining exceptional outdoor spaces for a great group of residential and commercial clients across Ottawa. Our focus is on providing professional services that help our clients get the most out of their outdoor spaces.
About the Role
We are looking for energetic, hard-working team players to join one of our Garden Maintenance Teams. We provide training. Horticulture experience is an asset but is not required.
Our work season runs from early to mid-April until December 1st (weather-depending).
Workdays start at 7 am and finish around 4:15 pm. Teams always travel together in company vehicles to job locations. Crew leaders pick up and drop off team members at the St. Laurent Shopping Centre in the East end of Ottawa.
Job Duties:
- Spring and fall cleanup of gardens
- Planting shrubs, perennials, and annuals in new and existing gardens
- Maintaining flowerbeds: weeding, cultivating, edging, and deadheading
- Pruning shrubs and small trees
- Fertilizing and watering
- Winterizing gardens
- Using a variety of gardening and power tools (backpack blowers, hedge trimmers, etc.)
- Communicating with your team about daily scheduling and closely following the supervisor's direction to help ensure weekly work orders are completed on time

Candidate Requirements:
- Reliability and punctuality, including reliable transportation to and from the meeting spot each day
- Steel-toed safety shoes (Horticare provides any other required PPE)
- Ability to lift 30lbs
- A valid driver's license is not required but is considered an asset.
Currently, we do not have any available openings for students. Applicants must be available to work fulltime from April to December 1st.

Average Starting Wage: $21.00 - $25.00 (Negotiable based on experience)
