Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Cook/Cleaner to join our team at Taigh Cùraim Day Care in Baddeck. In this role, you are responsible for planning and preparing nutritious meals and snacks in accordance with daycares policies and nutritional guidlines, while ensuring the kitchen and daycare environemtn remain clean, organized and sanitized. This position supports children's health and through proper food handling, cleaning procedures, and maintain a welcoming environment for children, staff and families.
Responsibilities
- prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks for children according to menu plans and dietary requirements
- ensure all food is prepared and stored following public health and food safety regulations
- maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen, food prepaeration areas and dining spaces
- wash dishes, untensils and kitchen equipment dailiy
- clean and sanitize toys, tables, bathrooms, sleeping areas, and high-touch surfaces throughout the day
- sweep, mop, vacuum and maintain floors and common areas
- dispose of garbage and recycling regularly and safely
- monitor and maintain inventory of food, cleaning supplies and kitchen materials
- report maintanance, safety or supply concerns to director
- follow daycare policues and health regulations
- accommodate food allergies, dietary restrictions and special nutrionall needs
- work collaboratively with daycare staff
Qualifications
- food handlers course
- knowledge of safe food handling
- ability to work independently
- experience working in childcare, food service or cleaning environments an asset
- physically able to perform cleaning and lifting duties
- reliable, organized and dependable
- criminal record check completed (if hired)
- child abuse registry check completed (if hired)
Pay: $16.75 per hour
