Project Engineer Responsibilities
The Intermediate Electrical Engineer will work with multiple disciplines to ensure all engineering activities are accomplished. Duties will include:
- Project lead of project work, including supervision of designers and drafters
- Resource management and planning
- Interface with project management and client
- Familiar with required Regulations, Codes and Standards, and ensure designs are compliant.
- Engineering and design from concept, FEED, Detailed Design and Construction.
- Technical design of power systems - including equipment sizing, load calculations, cable sizing, grounding calculations.
- Review and approve various electrical deliverables, including single lines, cable schedules, building layouts, junction box drawings, PLC/contactor panel layouts and schematics, motor starter schematics, lighting panel schedules and heat trace schedules.
- Develop RFQ packages specifying and purchasing electrical equipment, including; PLCs, MCCs, medium and low voltage switchgear, medium voltage VFDs, transformers and electrical buildings (e-houses).
- Review of vendor drawings for technical and project approvals.
- Performing other duties as requested.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- Work well with a team in a multi-disciplinary environment
- 5-10 years of engineering experience, preferably in an EPCM setting.
- Registered as a P.Eng. with APEGA.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and changing setting.
- Experience leading projects as the stamping engineer
- Experience running multiple projects in parallel.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Desire to learn and develop professionally.
Preferred
- Experience in energy industry projects
- 5-10 years of experience in engineering and design in conventional oil & gas projects
- P.Eng. registration with APEGA
