Automation Technician – Oilfield (Edmonton / Calgary, AB)
Crossroad Energy Solutions is currently seeking an Automation Technician for immediate work in the Edmonton and Calgary, Alberta areas.

The successful candidate:
· Has a safety-first mindset
· Has 5+ years of upstream oil & gas automation experience
· Has strong Schneider Modicon M340 programming, troubleshooting, and commissioning experience
· Experience programming Modicon M340 PLCs using Schneider Electric EcoStruxure Control Expert (formerly Unity Pro)
· Strong knowledge of IEC 61131-3 programming languages, including Ladder Logic, Function Block Diagram, and Structured Text
· Experience programming, troubleshooting, and maintaining PLCs, RTUs, SCADA systems, and industrial communication equipment
· Experience programming and making changes to existing PLC and RTU programs
· Hands-on experience programming Red Lion HMIs using Crimson
· Hands-on experience programming Beijer HMIs using iX Developer
· Experience developing and modifying HMI screens, alarms, trends, recipes, and PLC communications
· Experience programming, troubleshooting, and maintaining IDEC PLC systems using WindLDR or similar IDEC programming software
· Experience troubleshooting analog, digital, and Modbus devices
· Experience troubleshooting instrumentation and communication between master and slave devices
· Able to read and interpret electrical schematics and control-system documentation
· Experience safely working within control panels, performing I/O checkout, troubleshooting, and commissioning automated equipment
· Strong electrical, control-system, and industrial-network troubleshooting skills
· Works directly with operations teams to understand field processes, troubleshoot issues, and improve equipment reliability
· Able to identify issues that may not yet be known to the customer, communicate findings, and provide effective solutions
· Communicates effectively with customers regarding troubleshooting, repairs, and operational issues
· Performs well in a team environment
· Reliable, dependable, and punctual
· Willing to travel and work flexible hours when required
· Displays a self-motivated, strong work ethic
· Strong organizational, troubleshooting, and communication skills
· Must be legally authorized to work in Canada
Preference will be given to candidates who:
· Have additional programming experience with Rockwell / Allen-Bradley, Emerson, or ABB
· Have strong upstream and midstream oil & gas process knowledge
· Reside in the Edmonton or Calgary area
· Have an established network within the Alberta oilfield and trades community
· Hold current First Aid, H2S Alive, CSTS/ESTS, Fall Arrest, and Elevated Work Platform certifications
