NTE Discovery Park Ltd. located in Campbell River, BC, on the northeast coast of Vancouver Island. Discovery Park is a 1,200 acre, multi-use site with existing infrastructure in place including a 200 MW substation, a full-scale water treatment plant, and an industrial scale landfill. The site has ocean front access.
We are currently recruiting for a full-time, temporary (6 month) General Labourer. There is the possibility of this role becoming a permanent position. The employee will work on site at Discovery Park, Monday to Friday. Reporting directly to the Site Superintendent, this position provides the opportunity to be involved in a range of responsibilities including, but not limited to the following:
Responsibilities:
- Lawn-mowing, yard maintenance, brush clearing
- Operating a computer-operated water treatment system
- Painting, minor building repair
- Assist in operation of a roll on, roll off barge ramp system
- Other duties as assigned
- Must be reliable
Qualifications:
- Some minor experience operating an excavator, dozer, skid steer, zero turn lawn mower and weed eater would be an asset
- Some mechanical experience/aptitude would be an asset
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to learn to operate a computer system that operates a water treatment system
- Able to perform basic, physical labour
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs/23 kgs
- Must be in adequate condition to perform the required duties
- Prepared to work in all types of weather conditions
- On call availability
- Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to get to and from work and drive the Company vehicle as needed
- Able to work independently
- Proven ability to take initiative
- Team player
Rate of up to $30.00 per hour with vacation pay paid on every pay.
