The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in the food industry, with experience or familiarity in serving, food preparation, and maintaining food safety standards. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop culinary skills and gain valuable restaurant experience while contributing to a positive dining experience for our guests.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepares and cooks complete meals or individual menu items according to established recipes, menus, and hotel standards
- Ensure food is prepared and presented in a timely manner while maintaining quality and consistency
- Assists with preparation of ingredients including meats, seafood, vegetables, sauces, and garnishes
- Coordinates with kitchen and service staff to ensure guest satisfaction with food quality and timing
- Maintains appropriate food inventory levels and reports shortages as required
- Follows all food safety, sanitation, and safe food handling procedures in compliance with hotel standards and Federal, Provincial, and Local regulations
- Maintains superior standards of cleanliness, organization, and safety in all kitchen work areas
- Demonstrates a commitment to providing the best possible dining experience through attention to detail and teamwork
- Adheres to all hotel safety, security, SOPs, and departmental brand standards
- May assist with training or guiding kitchen helpers as required
- Performs other duties as assigned.
SKILLS/EDUCATION REQUIRED
The successful candidate will possess some or all the following characteristics:
- Completion of secondary school (High School) or equivalent is required.
- Completion of a commercial cooking program or 2-3 years of experience in food preparation required.
- Previous experience in a commercial kitchen environment is required.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and safe food handling practices
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organization, communication, and teamwork skills
- Ability to multi-task and remain detail-oriented
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Fort Mc Murray, AB: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required).
Work Location: In person.
Pay: $18.00-$19.50 per hour
