About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Orthodontic Dental Hygienist to join our client's modern, patient-centered orthodontic practice. In this role, you’ll blend traditional dental hygiene expertise with specialized orthodontic procedures to support our orthodontists and deliver an exceptional treatment experience for patients of all ages.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Support
● Complete orthodontic examinations, adjustments, and appliance placements
● Capture high-quality digital radiographs, intraoral scans, impressions, and photographs
● Perform orthodontic procedures such as placing/removing archwires, ligatures, and brackets
● Conduct oral hygiene assessments and provide preventive care
Patient Care & Education
● Educate patients on oral hygiene techniques tailored to orthodontic appliances and procedures
● Provide instructions for appliance care, elastics, retainers, and post-treatment maintenance
● Support anxious or young patients with a calm, reassuring approach
Treatment Coordination
● Accurately document patient records and clinical notes
● Communicate treatment progress and instructions clearly to patients and families
● Collaborate with the orthodontic team to maintain smooth patient flow and scheduling
Practice Support
● Maintain sterilization protocols and uphold infection control standards
● Prepare operatories and instruments for each appointment
● Participate in team meetings, continuing education, and quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications
● Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) in good standing with the appropriate provincial regulatory body
● Orthodontic experience preferred but not necessary; motivated new graduates are welcome to apply
● Strong communication skills and a patient-centered approach
● Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment
