About Us:
Mr. Mike’s Plumbing Ltd. is one of Calgary’s fastest-growing and most respected plumbing, HVAC, and excavation companies. As a COR-certified organization, we specialize in deep utility installations, sewer and water replacements, trenchless pipe rehabilitation, pipe bursting, and CIPP lining using advanced TRIC Tools and HammerHead systems.
We are seeking a hands-on Company Safety Officer to lead and maintain our company-wide safety program, with a strong focus on excavation, trenching, and underground utility safety. This role supports all divisions including plumbing, HVAC, and excavation operations while ensuring ongoing COR compliance and continuous safety improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and support the company COR program and certification
- Develop, implement, and update company safety policies, safe work practices, and procedures
- Conduct regular site inspections across plumbing, HVAC, excavation, and trenchless projects
- Lead excavation and ground disturbance safety initiatives, including trenching, shoring, sloping, confined space awareness, and utility hazard prevention
- Manage company inspection and preventative maintenance programs
- Conduct engaging toolbox talks, safety meetings, orientations, and field training
- Participate in Health & Safety Committee meetings and support worker participation initiatives
- Complete hazard assessments, incident investigations, corrective actions, and compliance documentation
- Ensure compliance with Alberta OHS regulations and company safety standards
- Work closely with field crews, foremen, operators, and management to promote a proactive safety culture
Qualifications
- NCSO designation required
- CRSP designation is considered a strong asset
- Minimum 3–5 years of Canadian construction safety experience
- Experience in excavation, underground utilities, civil construction, or trenchless operations preferred
- Strong understanding of excavation safety, ground disturbance regulations, and COR requirements
- Experience writing company safe work procedures and safety documentation
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License required
