Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and customer-focused Paint Associate to join our team. This role involves engaging with customers, providing expert advice on paint and renovation products, and supporting sales initiatives within our retail environment. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of construction and renovation processes, and the ability to drive high-end sales through effective product demonstrations and upselling techniques. Colour consulting is a large part of what we do. A love or passion for colour and home decor is also a huge asset. We are also willing to train the right person with little experience. We are small, but mighty staff looking to add team members to our growing business.
Duties
- Assist customers in selecting the appropriate paint, renovation, and construction products based on their project needs
- Conduct product demos to showcase features and benefits of various paints and related supplies
- Engage in high-end sales, upselling premium products, and providing tailored solutions to meet customer requirements
- Manage account relationships through effective account management strategies
- Utilize POS systems for transactions, cash handling, and inventory management
- Support merchandising efforts to ensure attractive product displays that promote sales
- Apply marketing strategies to attract new customers and retain existing clients
- Collaborate with team members on renovation projects, offering technical advice when needed
- Maintain organizational skills to keep the sales floor tidy, stocked, and well-organized
- Must be able to lift 50lbs - Paint pails can be heavy!
Skills
- Proven experience in retail sales, inside sales, or outside sales with a focus on high-end or specialty products
- Strong communication skills in English; multilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse customer bases
- Familiarity with POS systems, cash handling, and basic math for accurate transactions
- Excellent negotiation skills to close sales effectively while ensuring customer satisfaction
- Experience in renovation, construction, merchandising, or product demonstrations enhances performance in this role
- Customer service orientation with the ability to build rapport quickly and address customer needs professionally
- Organizational skills for managing multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
