Knelsen Sand & Gravel Ltd. is a leading road construction company providing premier services throughout Alberta. We are currently seeking a Base Crew General Heavy Equipment Operator to join our Grande Prairie base crew for the upcoming road construction season.
Position Overview
As a Base Crew General Operator, you will operate multiple types of equipment and play a critical role in preparing, shaping, and finishing base surfaces. You’ll support base construction activities from start to finish—ensuring proper drainage, grade accuracy, and surface quality to meet project specifications.
This role is ideal for an experienced and adaptable operator who takes pride in precision, teamwork, and safe operations.
Responsibilities:
- Operate a variety of equipment including finish hoe, grader, skid steer, mini hoe, and packer.
- Perform trenching and backfilling for utilities and drainage systems.
- Move and place materials efficiently and safely.
- Complete fine grading and general surface preparation.
- Work closely with crew members to meet quality, schedule, and safety expectations.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and productive jobsite.
General Qualifications
- Experience operating heavy equipment in road construction or base work.
- Strong understanding of construction safety procedures.
- Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel to various job sites.
- Physically able to meet job demands, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Commitment to safety—this is a safety-sensitive position with pre-employment drug screening required.
