As a Produce Clerk, you play an important role in providing customers with fresh, high-quality produce in a clean, organized, and welcoming environment. You will support daily store operations by stocking and rotating products, maintaining attractive displays, and assisting customers with product selection while following food safety and sanitation guidelines. Familiarity with a wide variety of produce items, including Asian and international selections, along with the ability to provide recommendations, is considered an asset.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and assist them with selecting fresh produce
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and visual appeal of the produce section
- Monitor inventory levels and restock shelves as needed
- Communicate product information, pricing, and promotions to customers
- Provide excellent customer service while promoting produce items
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and rotation of produce items
- Follow all health and safety regulations related to food handling
- Assist with training new staff on produce handling and customer service standards when needed
Qualifications & Skills
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Familiarity with Western and Asian produce
- Bilingual abilities are an asset but not required
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail
- Retail, produce or grocery experience preferred
- Commitment to cleanliness and food safety standards
- Assist in restocking shelves and maintaining inventory as needed
- Team-oriented with the ability to work independently when required
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities:
- Must be able to stand for extended periods
- Must be able to handle physically demanding tasks, including heavy loads up to 50–75 lbs or around 23 kgs
