Capital Engineering is seeking a Junior Document Control Specialist to join our Edmonton team. In this role, you will support our projects by assisting with the organization, tracking, and distribution of engineering documents and drawings. Working under the guidance of the Document Control Department Head, this role helps ensure documents are accurate and issued in accordance with client and project standards.
This role is ideal for someone who is detailed orientated and takes pride in producing quality work and wants to grow in a supportive environment.
What You’ll Do
- Maintain knowledge of client and company document control standards and requirements.
- Ensure compliance with document control procedures.
- Support processing requests to clients for numbers, tags and revisions.
- Support preparation of document packages (including PDFs, drawings, and transmittals) for client submission.
- Support preparation of vendor/ supplier deliverables.
- Assist in compiling and issuing document packages to clients.
- Maintain and update drawing logs and document tracking registers.
- Assist in maintaining organized electronic filing systems.
- Support project teams in locating and retrieving client documentation.
- Maintain confidentiality and integrity of project documentation.
- Support audits and reviews by ensuring proper document traceability.
- Ensure compliance with document retention and filing procedures.
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum of High School or GED. A post-secondary diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in document control within EPC, engineering, or construction in the oil and gas environment.
- Familiarity with engineering drawings and multi-discipline project workflows.
- Experience with document management systems (e.g., ALIM, Content Server or similar).
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, and PDF programs.
